Location: Fort Bragg | Hi,I am looking to install soft step cushion mats under my regular trailer mats. Can anyone tell me where I can get them? If anyone uses them can you tell me how dense they are? Can I just get closed cell foam sheets instead? Thank you for any advise! |

| I've not had any problems with my horses using cushioned/anti-fatigue mats. The horses do seem to be more comfortable when in transit. I'm in the UK and got our anti-fatigue mats from http://www.stratasales.com/ although there are others available I expect.

Location: South Central OK | These mats were in style about 10 yars ago and soon faded to black, the reason being is that the horses actually bouced around more and became more unsound. A soft bedding of pine shavings and hay is much more cushioning to the legs if you can't upgrade to an air ride system. |

Location: NC | I have 1 1/2" thick foam mats in my Sundowner 2 + 1, they are great. Very light weight, when we camp I can pull them out my self to hose off, as we use the horse area as living area.
I have not found any problems with soundness in either of my horses, we trailer a lot of miles. Have been using these mats for about 10 plus years. Hard rubber mats have little give, are way to heavy, and in my oppinion could cause leg issues with the constant pounding you get when trailering. There is a reason why folks use cushion mats in stores at the check outs, way easier on your legs.
Found my mats on craigslist, they are what vet clinics use in equine recovery rooms, perhaps you call around some vet clinics and ask where they got the mats they use.

Location: Rocky Mount N.C. | We use thick heavy rubber mats and a good bed of pine shavings..... Not sure about the soft cushy mats, I guess the are alright on a stationary floor, but how much support do you have bouncing across the interstate at 65-70 mph....?? Got two 4-Star trailers with WERM flooring. Bed them with pine shavings also. Easy to clean out, shovel out, hit it with the leaf blower, rinse and park it on a slope to drain..... Wish they all had WERM!!
