I'm working on a 6-horse fifth wheel trailer made by Spring Hill. The side door lowers down as a ramp and there is a handle on the outside of the door that turns 180 degrees to lock/unlock the door by extending or retracting pins that come out on the edges of the door. Something broke so the handle spins 360 degrees and does nothing. I have removed the inner door panel to get to the latch mechanism. It looks like the square shaft attached to the outside handle has rounded off so it does not turn the locking mechanism. Where would I be able to get parts for this locking design?

first off you need to get the bad parts out of the lock, it is probably held in by set screws so you may have to really look at it to see this, after you get it apart almost all hardware type stores should have square bar stock in assorted size's. worse case scenario is total replacement, post a pic. of it and I am sure someone can help.

If you can't find a replacement part, take the shaft to a welder. He can add material to the end, which can then be filed or machined, to the original working profile.
