I sold my beautiful BIG, luxurious Silverlite 4 horse LQ after my daughter quit showing in breed shows as it was too big for my camping needs. I've had a difficult time in my search for a smaller LQ that is quality made. The top brands like 4-star, Platinum, Elite, are more than I want to pay for the amount I would use it. However I have now found a 2000 Silverado which appears to be in almost new condition. Since it is far from home the owner has sent me picutures. The only ones I question are the all aluminum floor. I have read about aluminum pitting, duramax liners, etc. I hope I can post the pics of the floor here for your oopinions. It looks to me like the floor is ok, and perhaps the marks are mostly dirt. If so, I will buy this trailer and do the "Gard recommended" duramax liner. Opinions on the floor please???

the pic. that I am looking at looks like alot of pits and down right holes, if this is correct I think I would stay away from it as it may really need a new floor what would also enter into my thinking if this is pits what does the supports underneath it look like???? I would want alot better pics.

It is difficult to tell from the low resolution photo what is corrosion and what is other debris. On two trailers which I have experince on, the corrision issues were from the middle to the back of the horse compartment. This is an area where urine tends to pool given that a lot of trailers are towed "hitch high". If regular maintenance was not done, this area can experience significant aluminum corrosion. You will want to get higher resolution photos of the entire horse compartment area (suggest before and after the area has been hosed out) to determine if corrision is an issue on this trailer. From the low resolution photo you attached (we can only attach low res shots on HTW), the bright white areas in the lower left corner look like "surface" aluminum corrosion with the white being aluminum corrision products. These are likely areas of minor surface corrosion and are easily treated. The lighter brown patches could be staining or more significant corrision areas ... more photos are required. The dark brown areas along the tail fender wall also requires further investigation ... it may only be surface staining but could also be corrosion as with mares this can be a corrision prone area. As for the black specs, they don't look like holes but more detailed photos would be required to know for sure. Regards, 3CW

The floor will have to be acid washed before the amount of corrosion damage can be ascertained. Much of the discolouration will be removed during the effort, leaving a better idea of what repairs, if any, are necessary.

Thank you all for your input. I tried for a couple of hours to provide a higher resolution picture, but the maximum is 120 KB on this site. I would have to see the floor in person to determine the actual condition, but you confirmed my concerns.
