Location: Northern CA | Hi All,So I am going to have sand added to my round pen soon. I would like to have something along the bottom of the panels to keep the sand inside the pen. What did you use and what hardware to attach say maybe 2x12 boards to the bottom WITHOUT drilling holes and bolts into panels? Please, send pics of what you did to your round pen to keep sand in. That would be great. Thanks! |

Location: Nebraska | You can use rubber belting at the bottom. This is the same belting used in elevators to move grain, sand, coal, and any other commodity from one location to another. It's easy to come, easy to install, and doesn't hurt if you land on it. |

Location: Southern Minnesota | jackboot; Another idea is to use belting from a round baler. For attachment of either belts or boards, drill holes in them and attach using zip ties. Easy on, easy off, no rusting or weakening of the panels. |

| Part of the discussion may need to include uric acid and lime, or calcium lime mixture. There is bound to be a reaction of some kind. Just cannot determine if it is harmful for long periods of hoof contact. Many have seen urine's effect on cement. What does it do if anything to horse hoofs? |
