2007 C&C batteries keep going dead when sitting. They are turned off and nothing is on in the trailer/LQ that we can find yet the batteries keep going dead. The batteries are about a year old. Does anyone have any hints where to start trouble shooting here? They will take a charge but 24 hrs later deader then a doorknob! Granted they were not fully charged but had a battery charger on them and the generator running for a couple of hours.

Have you checked the water???? Anyway, pull the batteries out and charge them with a battery charger....use a smart one. Let sit overnight after removing the battery charger. Check the voltage at that time...should be 12.8-12.9 volts. If they lose charge overnight when they are connected to nothing, they could be bad......need more info about trailer...refrigerator????
It generally takes more that a couple of hours to fully charge the batteries.

Thanks. They are out of the trailer and being charged with a good charger as I write. Will try as you suggested once charged to let sit overnight and check. When they are on the trailer the battery switch was turned off. Nothing was on, frig, ac,even the radio was popped out. It is full LQ, frig (elec or propane), heat and air, microwave. The batteries were new last summer. Will post results if this does or doesn't work.

While they are out is a good time to check your batt switch. If it is a two post switch, the supply side should only have ONE wire on it,usually a #10 ,going directlyto a 30 or 40 amp fuse/breaker and then the pos post on the batt. ALL other wires should be on the "load" side of the switch. If it is connected this way and the batts are loseing charge, you have a defective cell or sells in one or both batteries. Before putting them back in the box,do a load test on each one,and then connected together. All load testers have different scales, but generally they should show 12.5 volts when you connect them and stay above 11 v for 30 seconds. After 30 seconds at full load they should return to at least 12v within 10 seconds. If so,I would load them again. You should be able to get the same results for 3 tests in a row, allowing a 5 min "rest" between tests.

If your trailer has multiple batteries, it’s important to consider them as individual components that comprise a single system. As such, it’s not a good idea to replace or upgrade only one battery; all of the batteries should be replaced with the same size and type. Placing a new battery in parallel with older/weaker batteries makes the new one work harder, and therefore will eventually make it as weak as the others.

There are two ways to have your starting battery performance tested: Conductivity and load testing. Conductivity testing is becoming more popular, because it can be performed with the battery in the vehicle, cables attached, in about a minute. Load testing can be performed by bringing a battery into most any auto-parts store, or in the vehicle with the cables disconnected. Either way, testing will tell you whether the battery is in bad (requires immediate replacement), marginal (may fail to start the vehicle in moderate to extreme hot/cold temperatures) or good (check again in about six months) condition.
