I've ran a Miller Welder/Generator off of propane for years with great results! I am outfitting a horse trailer with a LQ now and am looking at Yamaha's 4500 generator (US carb converts and sells) or Onan's comparable model. I Feel like I need at least 4000 watts considering the slight power loss experienced with propane fuel power. The great part about propane to me is the lack of fuel degradation regardless of time stored and the convenience of being able to carry more fuel in a larger tank. Thank you in advance!!

I had a Yamaha 3000 with boost for 8 years and always had power, started first time and ran well. easy to service and reasonable price, very quiet.  lost keys once and Yamaha sent out replacements quickly.

I used an Onan for years and never had a problem. I bought an extra bottle to carry in case I ran out of propane. It is a 5500 I believe, maybe 6500. Had it mounted in the back of the truck and wired so I could start it from inside. Traded trucks and haven't put it back in the new one. Want to get a hay rack and mount it up there. Just haven't done it yet.

Thanks - I do think they are the way to go. I think More people would run off propane if they knew more about it!

We bought our Bison LQ trailer already outfitted with a Onan, propane, 3500 generator. And, so far, we've been pleased with it. It starts easily and we can run our Air Conditioner and other 110 appliances with it. We have two tanks mounted in the rear saddle compartment, and we carry an extra, just in case we can't find propane anywhere close by. Given the chance, we go again with the Onan and propane.
Happy trails.

Thanks - sounds like a great setup! I have ordered a EF4500iSE Yamaha after researching the thoroughly. I think Onan is an excellent unit as well! I just hate pouring out unused (No longer fresh) gasoline - or killing weeds with it at 3.65 a gallon!! Thanks and Happy Trails to you too!!

I have a Onan propane built in at the factory, PROS. It's built in, fuel don't go bad, no oil filter, runs everything in the trailer. CONS. Uses a lot of propane under a load and propane not always easy to get on the road or when camped, big bottles are heavy to reload when full.
