Our new to us 09 Merhow has Karrier LoadStar tires on it. Aparently they were oem because the spare is new and the same. They are lr D radials and of course Chinese,so I am very suspect because both my equipment trailer and our 3h Corn pro came with Marathons and have not had any issues.Am i being paranoid or can I get 1 more season out of them safely? The tread is only worn about 25% and there are no visible cracks or checks.

A friend had the same tires on his trailer. They were four years old and looked good. He had a blow out that bent the fender on his trailer. We went to a tire shop and the man there said that brand is known for peeling. On the next trip he had a second blow, so needless to say he replaced all of them.

Give yourself a "peace of mind" present, and replace them with Good Year or Michelins; you'll be much happier in the end.

Trbomax, if the tires were fresh stock when installed in 09 then this is year 5 on the tires. If your budget can withstand a set of tires then replace them.Short story, used my fb trailer with aged out tires great tread to haul 8 round bales with no problems. Next day my buddy used it to haul a pallet of pavers had a blowout.

I guess I will change them out.I really wanted to wait untill winter when more disposable $ were available. I did check the DOT # on every tire and there is no date code on any of them. They are 235/80/r16 and I see where that is a "trailer unique" size but a 245/75/r16 is the same dia so I can do LT tires in an "E: range instead of the "D" that is on it now.

I know,it part of the DOT code, but its not there. If I could post pics on this site I could show you.I'm finding so much shoddy work on this trailer,I think it was made in Elkhart, kinda disapointed.

You did check both sides of the tires, correct?

We had the same tires on a 2010 Lakota trailer. They started blowing last year with an empty trailer. Ours had less than 4k miles and looked really good. We upgraded to 14 ply tires.
