Location: Lansing, Kansas | I have a triple axle 6 horse trailer and twice mow I have had the lugs snap off and the tire and rim went spinning down the road. Any ideas what might be causing this? |

| Which wheel? Aluminum wheels? Same broke both times?
Any hard turns on solid surface? Rears catch a lot of stress in a hard turn. Aluminum wheels have a tendancy to come loose if not retorqued and will then break studs off. |

Location: Lansing, Kansas | Back wheel. First time on the drivers side the next time it was the passenger side. They are not aluminum wheels. I would say that as with any trailer we get into some tight spots and have to make some sharp turns and I am thinking about parking it somewhere different at the barn because where I park it now can be a little tight sometimes. |

Location: Rocky Mount N.C. | Are you saying that the studs are breaking out of the hub? Are they 1/2", 9/16" or 5/8"? What size axles, 6000#, 7000#, 7200#, 8000#? Trailer sitting level when loaded? Threads are probably stretched and if the trailer is riding a little high in front it will overload that rear axle possibly shearing the lugs/studs off. I have a 6 horse head to head with tandem 8000# axles with 9/16" lugs/studs, wish it had 5/8" lugs and 17.5 wheels. I try to keep the trailer as level as possible and avoid those jack knife turns at all cost.. Never lost a wheel before. |

Location: Vermont | If you are doing lots of SHARP backup maneuvers on drive pavement...you can be putting some serious stresses on your TRIPLE axle arrangement...which could result in lug nut failures, et cetera |

Location: mancelona michigan | I had this happen several years ago on a 4 place enclosed snowmobile trailer in the UP of Mi when it was snowing! It was the first trip on a new aluminum trailer and we lost a lr,never even new it untill the guy that picked it up off the road caught up with us. Sheared every stud off.I did retorque the aluminum wheels before we left, but this was 350 miles down the road.I checked the rest of the wheels and they were all loose and 2 other studs were missing.I carry a torque wrench in the truck now. |
