Location: Hoosierville | Turning out a couple of my horses from the dry lot to the pasture has gotten to be somewhat dangerous as I have one (alpha mare) who will kick out as she goes through the gate. Meanwhile the gelding I have with her is pushy and is always trying for the number one spot. He does not kick out but does not respect my personal space. I bring a modified lunge whip with me to keep them away from me and I have also tried haltering and leading them out. I also feed them a flake of hay a couple hours before I turn them out.
Any help or suggestions will be greatly appreciated. |
