Location: missouri | Used the trailer for the first time this year and have an issue with the refrigerator. It runs fine on electric and cools, but on propane it shuts off. Once we reprogrammed it, it turns back on and runs fine on electric but once on propane it will kick off again. Any suggestions? Hubby is pretty handy with stuff trailer place is 2 hours away and $74 per hour. Would like to look at it first ourselves. Also we need to reseal the roof. I do not want to caulk it or silicone I want to do the heated tape. Anyone have any experience? and what is the best brand to use. Or is this a project that could lead to a divorce and we should just take it in? Thanks for your help |

Location: Los Angeles, Ca. | Hi...not sure which refrigerator you have but they all operate pretty much the same. The flame needs to be a nice blue, not yellow and should hit a small probe which generates a small amount of electricity. That electricity is what keeps the gas valve open. If the flame goes out, the electricity stops and shuts down the gas valve and flow of gas. If it works for a little while and shuts down, the probe(thermocouple) could be wearing out...it is replaceable. If the flame is not a nice blue flame, the orofice could be blocked and must be cleaned. Also, it is a good idea to clean the flue at the same time. Instructions are readily available on line. Low gas pressure(a defective regulator ) is also a possibility and can be checked using a manomometer but I would look at the flame-thermocouple first. All of this is in the realm of a handy husband.
If your refrigerator has electronic control boards, it could get more complicated. Good Luck and give us an update |

Location: western PA | For roof sealing, I like to use marine caulking/sealants and Elastomeric coatings. They are long lasting and the Elastomerics are particularly easy to apply. |

Location: Tucumcari NM | Did you check to make sure the vent was clear? Birds and mud daubers love to nest in the vents if you do not have proper screens. |

Location: Texas | When I don't run mine on propane for awhile it takes some time to get the air purged out of the line good. I usually light a burner on the stove and let it go awhile, then light the refrigerator pilot. |

Location: North Carolina | I like the tape posted above. It's a lot neater to use than caulking. After removing all of the old caulk, I used a caster wheel to press it down... Very important to get a good seal. |
