I don't have or use a GPS.... All my routes are mapped and printed on paper before I leave my farm.... Wife is riding shotgun and has the I-Pad with the Sat. view of areas if any that are in question.. I tend to think he may have got a little too fast and turned too quick, bet those brakes were cooking.... Looks like there would have been enough room to make that turn if he was taking his time and going slow....  I know, I wasn't there, just going on the look of the area from the video. Sad deal....

I have a niece just learning to drive pulling a horse trailer. One of the words of advice I gave her was to make sure when she sees a road sign with a curve and mph on it, to be sure she'd down to that speed before she gets into the curve.

How about below that speed.... That speed is for the average automobile with an average driver. It doesn't take into count of a new driver, pulling a trailer with live animals...

Hi, I am new here but I'll chime in. Yes, know your roads, slow down for curves, and don't put more horses in a trailer than it was designed to hold!!! 8 horses in a trailer designed to hold 7 is what the article states...Very sad, and I am glad that as many horses survived as did.

It looks like this forum is no different than the rest. Why the personal attacks? I come to this forum to confirm my own thoughts, provide additional knowledge or learn experiences from others.I am not a "moderator" or an "expert" but when I see stuff like this it chaps my hide. Why not keep it a professional forum where people are welcome to learn from others.

I'd think knowing your destination is as important. When hauling to a camp, I always call ahead and get the owner(s) to advise the best way in pulling my rig. Most of the time, they'll bring you in a route that may take longer but is much safer.

Don't know about the expert thing but there are several very knowledgeable people on here, and you might be wise in considering what they are saying.

Yes, they are experts with a wealth of knowledge which they share freely with the rest of us. Those of us willing to listen benefit from their advice.

Experts are merely people that survived their mistakes and willing to share.
