Location: Erie PA | I was wondering if GN horse trailers with living quarters are considered an RV . I had read on another forum that you don't have to increase your weight class on your truck if you are hauling an RV, only trailers . Is this true ? I currently have a class 6 sticker which allows combination weight up to 17000 pounds , but my most of my friends are not putting the combination stickers on their trucks because they don't feel they need them . My Total weight of my horse trailer and truck , fully loaded, was 19000 lbs , so I was over my weight class limit . I live in PA . |

Location: Erie PA | I found out that a living quarter horse trailer and truck do not qualify as an RV . I will have to increase my weight limits to a class 7 . this will allow me to have a combination weight of 21,000 pounds , but now I will have to have safety inspection twice a year .

If you are not using it for business...it's an RV...PENNDOT has license requirements based on weights of vehicles operated. RECREATIONAL VEHICLE - a vehicle used for personal pleasure or personal travel and not in connection with any commercial endeavor. The term “Recreational Vehicle” refers to vehicles such as campers, house trailers, motor homes, and mobile homes when used exclusively for personal pleasure and travel by an individual and his family. In order to qualify as a recreational vehicle, the vehicle must not be used in connection with any business endeavor.
