Location: Valentine, NE | We are looking at a new, +3 year old LQ and wondering if anyone has any thoughts as to what we should make the dealer replace due to it sitting on their lot for 3+ years? Is new, never titled and never used.
My thoughts are that the batteries need replace for sure.
Anything else?
Tires maybe, but we put 20k on a year, and they will be worn out before they become 6 years old so maybe not?

Location: Ottawa, Illinois 61350 | From a dealer's standpoint; batteries will probably need replacing, but tires on a big rig will run a good chunk of change. The dealer may be selling it at below cost to move it anyway, so making him replace the tires might be a deal breaker. |

Location: Penrose, Colorado | I would want the wheel bearings replaced if it has been sitting that long an not pulled, I bought a used trailer from a friend that had been sitting a little longer and had the bearings checked before I pulled it 300 miles home and they were not round. |

| I agree with Jim on this. From a dealers standpoint I would also make sure that if there is any type of sealant on the roof replace it. Along with has the unit been winterized and kept winterized? Unless it is in the deep south it has froze everywhere this year. |

Location: Zionsville, Indiana | If this new trailer has been on a dealer's lot for 3+ years, it is likely that the dealer is already losing money when you buy it and is not able to further choke down $200.00 more or less on new batteries, let alone a roof sealant replacement which is a major labor intensive job. The dealer may tell you to take it or leave it, and you have to consider whether the price is attractive enough to enable you to invest a little more in preventative maintenance. |

Location: Topeka, Kansas 66542 | Brake pads may be rusted. They don't need replacing; however, I've had mine rust when sitting over the winter. It causes them to stick until the rust breaks loose or it worn off. Just something to for you to know. I would also just suggest towing it before the final sale. |

Location: knoxville, al | I don't know if you bought the trailer or not,but I had the same situation here. Trailer was 3 years old, brand new repo never titled. Has the same batteries that came in it, I've had the trailer almost 3 years now, and so far I haven't had to replace them. Everything, except the tires, have been great. I replaced those immediately with heavier rated tires. Got a great price, and any little thing that went wrong, Sundowner was great about sending replacement parts, only thing is, I happen to be able to repair things that went wrong, otherwise I would have had to haul it to an rv place for repairs. |
