Building them better then from the 70s/80s? Maybe I just didn't pay that much attention when younger (I was in HS in the early 80s, I didn't even know how close we were to all out war during Reagan), but the biggest recalls I remember. Pinto tank fires, Fords going into gear on their own and the Chevy mid 70s+ truck style tank problem. There has to be more I'm sure... But I bet this day and age there is 10x more then back then.

With the recalls now a days, to me, most get pointed to controlling emissions and fuel mileage... LOTS more heat.
