Hi all,I have a 2001 CM Drover 4-Horse GN trailer. It is a solid trailer and has served me well. I am a member of a mounted search & rescue unit and sometime find myself spending the night out in the field at incident command because they want horses out at first light. I am a computer geek by trade and a volunteer SAR. My trailer has a small dressing area that works, but it is not insulated. There are windows in the neck. Since I typically only carry 1-2 horses on a search, I was thinking of having the divider wall between tack and horse compartments cut out and moved back one stall and reinstalled to make the trailer a 3 horse, but have a larger living area. I do not have a ton of $$$ to spend on this upgrade and feel I can do a lot myself. I was wondering if anyone knew of anyone in New Mexico who did something like this? Thanks in advance.Jeff

IMO... getting rid of one stall is the same thing as removing a bedroom from a house, value drops and when you say "I wish I had room for one more horse". Sure if and when you could put it back to a 4 horse, but money wasted. This is the way I would do it... My mind set would be, I have been in a tent when 10*, I sure would have no problem with my arctic bag sleeping in a GN.

IF you want to make it a bit more cozy, leave the horse space and just insulate the area you have in the dressing area 1" (or about) foiled back foam insulation, cover with lauan plywood and you are done. Less then $500 and you are good to go.

Just for something to look at, here is my GN dressing area before and after...
