Location: Chesapeake, VA | So, i bought a used trailer...in really great shape with 1 exception...the mud room door.Long story short...kid was paid to pressure wash, acid wash aluminum and he screwed up and acid washed the door skin. Well...it has holes in it now. My question...how could i repair this? Is it easy to reskin RV Camper doors? Shouldi just patch on the outside? The holes are sporadic but mostly below the door handle level. biggest hole size is about the size of 2 quarters. |

Location: Rocky Mount N.C. | I don't think you can blame it all on the acid wash. Probably been leaking water in around and below the latch for a while. The aluminum was all ready rotton, the acid wash just helped it along. RV folks may be able to reskin the door but may be as cheap to find a replacement.... What make is the trailer, the mfg. may provide service parts. |

Location: Florida | A proper acid wash of an aluminum trailer will NOT - repeat - NOT eat through the aluminum. It will only remove the oxidized crud / tarnish from the aluminum. I can now hear the conspiracy theory discussion starting that acid washing trailers will destroy your trailer !! NOT true - unless you used an industrial, full strength acid that would have by now peeled your skin completely and destroyed any implements you used to apply it. Just what 'acid' did you supposedly use ?? |

Location: Chesapeake, VA | Trailer is a 2000 Cherokee super chief. I did not do the damage, previous owner did. I'm thinking whole door replacement will be easiest thing. |

Location: MS | This spring I rebuilt the door and drop downs on my Exiss. Depending on how it is put together, it could be an easy fix to reskin it. But it would be easier on YOU to just find another door. Probably be about the same cost by the time you fabricate that much aluminum anyway. |
