Location: Decatur, Texas | Kind of board here and thinking about buying a new trailer and trying to figure out what I would buy if I was looking to spend around $80-k or less would be great! We really like our Sundowner 8010 Signature Series but I am wanting a larger LQ and move back up to a 4 horse trailer First of all I will be buying NEW, looking at a 4 horse trailer and really want to move up to around a 14'SW, slide out is really not that big of an issue A list of must have's is going to be: drop down windows on the rump side, solid rear tack, 1/2 side tack or mid tack, mangers, GENERATOR built in and LED lights out the YZOO... Looking at Lakota, Logan and all the BIG names too, just want to get the very most amount of trailer for the money! |

If I was in the market to spend 80k I would find a gently used Bloomer,Elite or Platinum .Let someone else take the15 -20 percent hit pulling a new trailer off the lot |

Ours is a 2004 model and if I do buy another USED trailer has to be JUST AS NICE if NOT nicer than the one we have now....... We found a floor plan that Lakota offers in a 13'SW and 15'SW with a side tackwith and without a slide out that would work perfect. This same type floor plan in a big name trailer I am being told a 100-k plus. |

Here is the 2 floor plans we was looking at with or without the slide. Both have side tack not a closet.

Location: Lander WY | Yes in the big name and brand new you probably are looking at 100k- but why buy new?? If you wait you can find deals on nearly trailers- after rodeo season trailers will be on the market. |

Because I do NOT want a trailer that someone has pulled all over the country in a year or so and no telling how many curbs they run over taking a chance on axle damage then on top of that the used ones I have been looking at a year or 2 old the generators already have 300 plus hours on them and who knows if they have maintained on anything at all on the trailer... (Rodeo trailers are the worst trailers out there) If I knew it was coming from someone like myself I would not have an issue with it, cause I service mine once a year and it is cleaned after every time we use it. The handful of used trailers we looked at last weekend and all was 2009 and 2010 models was nowhere near as clean and our 2004 is..... |

BTW not all rodeo trailers are trashed, numerous manufactures tow their trailers to the big events across the US. They keep the trailers in top condition. I once purchased a trailer from a manufacture that was pulled to one event by a rodeo queen- that never had a horse in it.

Location: Decatur, Texas | Thank you...
I understand ALL of them are not, but around here from what we have been looking at and a few of them was so-called Rodeo trailers have not been taken care of. Just looked at one yesterday, a 2011 Bloomer with kind of what we are looking for and the generator already had 667 hours on it, carpet in the midtack looked like they used it to change the oil in their truck, the sofa was already worn on the front edge, rear mat in horse compartment was trashed from a pawing horse, but you are right I would save 15% of the new price, but would have to spend that to get the trailer back in shape! |

Location: KY | In that price area, I would go with a Lakota Big Horn with a super slide and 4 horse............ |

Location: Minnesota | HTB, Good to see you back. In April we went to the MN Horse Expo and looked at trailers and LQ's. We were really impressed with on of the conversion companies. They advised us to sit down with them and design what we wanted in our LQ, then they would get the trailer needed to fit our needs. They also said they would only work on trailers by Elite, 4 Star, Bloomer, etc because of the engineering they need to do to get the plumbing and holding tanks in, as well as where walls might need to be. I would look that way and see where your price might end up. |

Yes and really dig the front bath too... This dealer also has another Sundowner with a 14'SW that would work. But I really want a side or mid tack again. This one you listed the guy said I could buy for 86-k and the 14'SW I could buy for 80-k. |

Location: MI. | You lost me at if you had the money.....haha, The second floor plan lacks cabinets especially considering the size. I personally would want only a sofa or a dining table and replace one of the spaces with storage.

The better half did not see it either, she was more interested in the tack space than interior space.....lol |

Speaking of diesel and Dodges, our 07 now has 105-k miles with a full delete and still love it! Made a few trips to Kansas last year hauling hay back crossing the scales around 38-klbs each time with zero issues! Thank goodness for the weight exemption on hauling hay..... |

Yes, I'd like to know more also. I was looking at downsizing from my Sundowner 4 horse 12 lq , and Lakota was on the list. LOVE my trailer, it's just too much trailer. I had narrowed down to a Lakota 3h, or stock trailer with lq. Not to degrade the lakotas because I like what I've seen in pictures, just interested in other's opinions |

Location: Ocala, Fl | Two years into a Lakota Bighorn with the super slide. Only problem was the tires that came with the trailer. Be sure to specify Goodyear. Ours has every thing that Lakota puts on their units so when I say no problems that covers a lot. This trailer is very easy to live out of. It's the only one that I have seen with a double sink. Lots of storage and plenty of room to prepare meals. If I had any complaints it would to not have the living room tv in the middle of the area where you go into the sleeper. It's a bad angle for viewing.we had the mid tack ducted for the heat and air. It makes a great storage area. We also had Lakota put shelves in the mid tack. |

Location: Central Arkansas | It is a good trailer for the money, BUT it is just not the quality that I am used to. I have pulled Bloomers & 4 Stars for the last 20 years. I wanted lots of room for those long shows, and I wanted to pull it with only a dually. I felt like Lakota was the best in its class for a 17' LQ with superslide that came in less than 11k pounds (dry weight). But, since we own a Freightliner Sportchassis, weight isn't really an issue. So, I'm currently shopping for another one of those built like a tank, ornate Outlaw interiors, that is way too much for their dually. |

Location: Tennessee | brushy creek or any one else who may be shopping for one of those big, heavy, ornate trailers, I have an 09 Bloomer, stainless, built as a show trailer, 4 horse, ramp, mangers, folding tack so yes, you can haul your golf cart, integrated pod, Outlaw conversion, 20' SW, dual slides, wood floor. Stored under cover. regularly maintained. We pull with a Sports Chassis. PM me if any interest. |
