I would like to install two Hi Ties on the tail side of my Sooner Revolution 2001 aluminum trailer. The trailer has a double walled aluminum skin and I can't determine where the frame is to safely mount the bolts for the Hi Tie? I contacted the "umbrella" company that owns Sooner and they don't have blue prints for the "older" Sooner trailers. Can anyone help?

Can you see any vertical rivet lines on the exterior of the trailer? If not the trailer may have the exterior skin glued to the frame, so you may need to slowly push on the exterior skin along the roof line and see if you can find the studs in the wall OR you may need to open up the interior wall( drill out rivets ) to determine stud spacing and the best location to mount the ties.Good luck post pics when you can.

We have a stud finder that is based on resistance, not metal. I've used it to find studs in a trailer in the past. They have them at Home Depot, Lowes, not to pricey and good to have around.

And when you go to drill, I suggest using a small bit, and make sure you hit the stud. (easier to hid a tiny whole than the big one. I've installed my own Hi-Ties on 3 different trailers. Easy to do once you fine the stud. My tie rings on the outside were installed on studs. Might be another thing to look at. Old fashioned tap, tap, tap along the wall not giving you any clues?
