Location: Lander WY | I have always thought the GVCW can not exceed your axle(s) rating.Example I have seen a trailer label on a 2005 Sundowner 8013. The label states the trailer has 2 7500 lb axles. The GVCW is at 18750. So if this label is correct the axles are over loaded by 3,750 lbs right?? OR did I miss that day in school LOL.Thanks for your help!! |

Location: Vermont | But you are correct to be concerned with exceeding your axles...because if you get near your max, the possibility of creating an axle overload is multiplied... |

Location: Tenn/Ala. | For what it is worth Bill, that Sundowner very likely has 8,000# axles. But it apparently has LT235/85R16 Load Range "G" tires rated at 3750# ea, or 7500 for the pair. So the GAWR of each axle is limited by the tires, thus 7500#. Also- Sundowner is going to take 7500 * 2 = 15000# * 1.25 (for pin weight)= 18,750 for the GVWR. That is a standard calculation for them. |
