Location: Lawrenceburg tn | Would like to say hello and I have enjoyed this forum for a while but just now signed up. Lots of good info posted here. Anyway I live in middle tn and have been talking to a lady in Kentucky about breeding a mare or two to her horse. Her horse stands in cynthiana Kentucky. My idea is to find a place my wife and I can go camp/ride and also drop the mare off. Kinda make more out of the haul other than just to take the mare if that makes since? Does anyone know of any good places to camp/ride in this area or on the way to and from? I did ride redhill a few weekends ago and really liked it....just always open to new suggestions/places. Thanks for your time. |

Location: Crestwood, KY | Cave Run isn't too far from there. There is a primitive camp called White Sulphur, and I think there are a couple (at least one) private camps there too with electric. |

Location: Richmond, Ky | Just a word of "caution" on riding Caverun. During the winter time or "wet" season the forest dept. is closing several trails in the area, if you happen to be on one and get caught they can slap a ticket on ya. I'm not 100% sure about the date that the trails are back open but I think it is somewhere around mid May or the 1st of June.
There where 3 camps at one time in Caverun area; WhiteSulfur (primitive) Caverun Stables and Resort (now closed) and Rudys Ranch currently open. I would have to pick Rudys as they do have elect/water but just make sure of what trails are open to horses and what are closed before you head out. |
