I've been looking for a new trailer and I REALLY like these trailers - but have NEVER heard of them.  Does anyone have any experience with them?  I understand they are in financial problems and would not like to order one and then they go out of business and the warranty wouldn't be any good?

They used to have someone who posted here regularly. Seemed like a pretty decent guy.

I can't speak to any issues, but I do have a friend with a very new Kiefer trailer that has no warranty where they went BK. So in all liklihood, if they go, so does your warranty. But depending on what kind of trailer it is- there isn't a lot of warranty work to be done on anything except maybe a LQ anyway.

I had a Double D Trailer years ago. It was a 3 horse slant with a dressing room. It was a steel trailer. Held up great and pulled like a dream. The only reason I sold it was because I needed something bigger. I wouldn't hesitate to buy another one.

Hi, yes, I have that website, but do you actually think a company is going to tell you they are in financial struggle?  That's why I'm asking the horse world if anyone has heard of them.  It seems their construction and styles are awesome, but I've never heard of them before and wanted opinions if anyone else has.  Thanks.

Greetings...Yes I own a 2011 safetack 3 horse slant. I had it built custom from the axles up. And I absolutely love this trailer. The swing out tackroom is amazing-a must have that I wouldn't live without. The staff at the shop are above all amazing. I know I was a pest to them but they were nothing but courteous and helpful. Buying a trailer online (which I did) was terrifying but the day I saw that beautiful white gooseneck sitting in my driveway I knew it had all come into place. And then being able to haul/camp with it has been an experience all their own. At horse events and horsecamp I get nothing but compliment and oohs/ahhs when I whip out the swinging tack cabinet. Right now they have different warrentys on the trailers and they are slowly gaining ground in the horse world. In the end you have to get the trailer that is right for you. Doing your research is utmost important. Check them out. Even if you get a few ideas it never hurts to look. All the best luck...

Hi Wildwest41,

I will be happy to answer any questions you may have concerning trailer quality, service, Safety or construction which is really the purpose of this forum. I am unsure where you received your information about our company financial condition but our position in the market and in moving forward is very solid. Unless the person that you "heard" your information from was the CFO or CEO, or company CPA, with access to financial records they are probably speculating or guessing or only passing along information they "heard".

It's frustrating when people/competitors spread false rumors and rather than considering the source, or addressing concerns directly rumors turn into more rumors. I appreciate the fact that you are spending the time to research before making such as large investment and I agree with you that I wouldn't want to purchase a product myself without fully investigating who I was dealing with. I applaud you for doing your research and I ask that if you have additional questions, please pick up the phone and call me at 888-244-2029 or my direct # at 252-642-6173. I will gladly address any question, concern you may have.

I own the brand name Double D Trailers and our parent company started in 1993. This September will make 20 years of being in business which is an accomplishment many small businesses can't boast. While there have been economic hurdles, growth pains, recessions and other obstacles I can tell you at age 39, I have no plans of retiring or going anywhere as a business owner. (yes I started at Age 19) I enjoy helping people too much and talking about horse trailers is something that is very dear to my heart.

As far as the company, we did pay income tax to Uncle Same on six digit net profits in 2012 and 2013 sales are up about 12% for first quarter in comparison and I can proudly say the company currently has zero debt.

In regards to warranty and service, I feel so strongly about customer service that I personally handle all warranties myself and I think most of our previous customers will agree "you are in good hands". LOL. It reminds me of the Allstate commercial..."

I don't think you will find a trailer company that works harder to educate our customers, and I promise you will not find anyone who works harder at satisfying customers than Brad Heath, owner of Double D Trailers.

As always, I appreciate every comment, question, concern and every opportunity to do business or help someone.

Glad to hear someone has ordered one of these.  I love the safe-tack feature and wondered why no one else has ever heard or seen any of these in any expos or such.  I will also be ordering one via internet and was quite worried about it, but glad to see it was a smooth transaction and great experience.  Thanks for your reply!

I have had a Double D for the past 8 or 9 years. Absolutely LOVE it, it pulls very nicely, the horses load and unload very calmly and it has held up very well over the years. The only problem I have encountered with mine is recently I have found some water leaking into the dressing room. I'll be climbing up on the roof soon to find out where exactly but it seems to be along one or two of the seams in the roof. I have pulled mine for thousands of miles from NC to MI and back multiple times as well as locally. I can't remember what mine was called but it was something along the lines of 3H Deluxe. They changed the trailer names so I can't look it up. I will be going back to them when I'm ready to upgrade to a nice LQ trailer.
