Location: MI. | Does anybody know any common tranny leaks on a 2005 Chevy duramax? My demon truck all of a sudden started leaking pretty good yesterday. Hubby thinks it might be a seal, going to check it today. Wondering how much this bill is going to be.  |

Location: Florida | What cap said... And I would check the trans cooler lines and also the spin on filter.
To add, make sure it isn't the hydro boost for the power brakes.

| I have the 8.1 Liter version with the same trans. I have replaced cooler lines, pan gasket, and the seal where the control shaft go through the main housing. Still have some seeps, I cant find em all but I suppose after 300k its allowed to have a few wounds that wont heal |

The biggest failure point tends to be where the transmission lines attach to the transmission cooler.

Location: Iowa | Paul is right. I had to replace mine tranny lines at 53,000 miles. Dealer wouldn't stand behind it because it was out of warranty age wise. Its not a big job if you are mechanically capable of working on it yourself. Dealer wanted $600 to do mine. Bought the tranny lines over the internet for $175 and did the job myself with help from a mechanic friend. |

Location: Minnesota | Yep, probably tranny lines. Replaced mine @ 75,000 miles on my 08. Had my mechanic do it because it is a lot easier to do on a hoist and he's done many others recently. Cost me about $300, but he has a low hourly rate.

Location: MI. | It ended up being two bolts and correct me if I am wrong in saying this but there were two plugs/seals on or buy the pan...? Anyhoo, I should be getting it back today and I will be taking my original parts back as always. They told me my fuel filter light is on...um I know and NO we will take care of it.....$940.00 later....

Location: Florida | Fuel filter light... More then likely needs to be drained of water, not hard to do. Check your owners manual on how to do it, BUT I would also change the filter... I hope that figure you just gave wasn't for fixing the leak and or fuel filter light. If so I think we all would like to know what description of work was quoted. |

Location: MI. | Torque converter seals and two bolt seals. They get you on labor...Oh well, couldn't fix it this time ourselves. It is what it is.

Well, glad to see it was resolved...if you do NOT want to revisit this issue, the next time at the transmission cooler line connections...AVOID LONG IDLING PERIODS...
