Location: Auburn, CA | Howdy all. New to the forum and have what might be a bit of an odd question. I race formula cars and our current setup is a Ford F350 dually with a Lance camper on the back, towing a 26' enclosed tag race trailer for the race car, tools, and spares.We've recently purchased horses and were shopping for a two-horse trailer, but rather than owning (and having to store) two trailers AND a camper, what would be ideal would be a 4-horse gooseneck with living quarters that can be relatively easily converted to car hauling duty.Does such a rig exist or would I be looking at a custom trailer?Thanks! |

        Location: NY | welcome to the forum ,the question I have is how big of a space do you need for the car and tools ? Is there any gas or oil that drips out from time to time could damage the rubber mate in horse trailer. Most horse trailer have it were you could remove the center post to open up the trailer, hope this helps |

       Location: western PA | A 4H GN with a LQ is a pretty large affair. Depending upon the size of the LQ, you may not have enough truck. A four horse trailer, easily has the capacity and length to haul a formula car. The inside width may be the problem. Many stock combo trailers are ~7 wide, with the inside widths totalling less with the wall thicknesses. Many stock trailers have a one piece tailgate, which would be more convenient than two and a center post. If you could find an 8' wide stock combo, it would probably suit you needs very well. I would recommend a manufacturer that uses welded floor planking in its construction, over a wood or sheet metal flooring material. The PSI of the car tires on the flooring will be less than a horse, so structurally you will be OK. |

    Location: Rayne, LA | I know a fellow that bought a used 4 Star that was being used to haul a race car that he ordered the stall dividers to convert to a horse trailer. It had a 20 foot area for the car with a straight wall. |

  Location: santa clara, ca | are you talking about an open wheels car? to make it narrower you might consider taking off the front wing (which you might have to anyway to the approach angle) and perhaps see if you can find some super narrow tires/rims (just to load it in the trailer). Also the back wing. You might also want a winch to pull it in the trailer.If you get a stock they will mostly likely have open side (easy to seal with plexiglass anyway) |

   Location: Manitoba, Canada | A neighbor had a 36' aluminum stock trailer, 8' wide. It was custom built, and the dividers made three 12 stalls. They used to load their car and climb out through the trunk since there wasn't enough room to open the doors. They would put tack in the first stall, and horses and car in the other two, but don't recall which order. Worked great, they travelled a lot of miles like that. |

To answer the above, yes, the car is open wheel. I have motorcycle-style transport wheels for it that narrow it up pretty good for hauling. Wings can probably stay on as long as I can shallow up the approach angle with custome ramps (which I do with my current trailer since it lacks a beaver tail rear end). |

Location: Murfreesboro, TN | I saw a brochure at Judy's tack in Brentwood, TN that showed a Mercedes truck/van that was a horse trailer. It was amazing & probably pricey. I think another company made using the Mercedes chassis. What was cool about it was the passenger could check on the horses while driving.. Call them & they could probably tell you about it. I wish I had asked for a photocopy of the brochure. A girl can dream |
