Location: Valentine, NE | A few months ago, I posted that our high end LQ trailer had cracks in the welds on from the bulk head wall to the bed area of the gooseneck. Company and several dealers said not to worry as these pieces where the welds cracked, were just cosmetic trim.
Ok-fast forward to this weekend. While loading up for this last week, noticed that just above the area in question, the sheet aluminum has started to come apart where the 3M tape glued the sheets together for approximately 8-10" gapping out 1/2" or so. Went 300 miles and gap did not change. Talked to local high end conversion company and they said that they do see this occasionally. He recommended just to retape/glue. Have messages into manufacturer to see. Concern is that is right above cracks mentioned above. I am sure the manufacturer will send me some glue and say that is not a big issue.
My issue is that we paid 70k plus for this trailer 2.5 years ago...maybe time to trade? |

Location: North Carolina | Without a picture, it's hard to understand the area in question. I think if these defects are related, then you have a structural problem. The trim pieces are cracking because of stress. From what ... is the question. Is the trailer flexing? The tape separating is either poor bond or stress the sheets weren't supposed to encounter. I would investigate further before ignoring the issue. |

Location: Valentine, NE | Yup, it is a Cimarron. It is a 2009. Talked to dealer and he is supposed to get back with me. I have went over all the framing I can see, and can't find any other concerns.
Yes, it is pulled with a Chevy 4500 with air suspension.

Location: Valentine, NE | Got with manufacturer and they are more than great! They are sending stuff up to reglue at the local conversion shop and will foot the bill=no questions asked.
Also, have an appointment with a dealer that we will be going by in 2 weeks when on the road and will have them go thru it. They are now recommending that the crack be reworked/welded by the dealer.
Sure is nice to have a great company honoring their warrenty!!! |
