I've been looking to buy a trailer and came across one that looks just right for my needs and budget. It's a 1990 two horse straight load Sundowner bumper pull with a dressing room, and the ad says it's all steel. I asked what the empty weight of the trailer is and the owner told me that they weren't sure how much it weighed and that it was tagged for 7000 pounds at their BMV. I took that to mean that the trailer by itself weighs 7000 pounds, which seems like a lot for a two horse. Is that an average weight for a steel two horse trailer? Or did I get it wrong and did they mean that the combined weight of the trailer and everything in it can be no more than 7000 pounds? Any help would be much appreciated! A 2 horse bumper pull steel trailer can weigh anything from 2400 to 3200 lbs empty depending on the manufacturer |
