Location: Morrisville, NY | Yeah, unfortunately. Symptoms for my mare were the ones usually listed - behavioral changes, reluctance to move, lame / arthritic. She'd had laminitis in 2006 (from a vaccination, no less.. makes me still want to scream but we got thru it). 2010 Lymes went undiagnosed for too long (symptoms here were not as severe and not always evident) and she got laminitis again. Got thru that and she had Lymes again Spring 2012. Seemed to get over it with treatment but then developed neurologic issues - and going into another bout of laminitis in June, I called it quits for her. I've heard that horse can have much less severe symptoms and get over it with treatment. We just weren't so lucky. Maybe her predisposition for laminitis was the clincher. This is a good article if you haven't seen it

Location: MD | Yes, but picked up on it quickly. She had an embedded tick so I was keeping an eye on her. She had lethargy mostly. Vet said it was the highest count he's seen in this area. Put her on 20 Doxicyclins per feeding (2x a day) for 30 days. She has no ill effect from it. |

Location: southcentral pennsylvania | My mare contracted Lyme disease about 3 years ago. She just "was not doing right." She avoided laminitis, but is arthritic. She completed the docycycolin (sp?) course of medicine. She is currrently on Cosequin, comfortable, but not able to be ridden. She is 23 years old. |
