Location: Texas | In a hurry to put awning in with a storm heading in, it got away from me when winding, and the pull strap is wound up in the awning, and I can not get a hold of it. Awning slammed shut hard. It is a Suncatcher 8500 I think. The kind with the fabric around the tube, but no metal case around fabric when closed.
Is there a trick to open this thing without the pull strap? |

Location: Manitoba, Canada | If you pull on the arms, the roll of fabric goes from being a tight roll to a loose one, and you can fish out the grab strap. Had that happen to me last month, caused a moment of panic, but it was all good. |

Location: Tenn/Ala. | Pull the lever to "roll down", open both travel latches, then stand on the step or running board with your back to the trailer. If you'll slide both hands up in the awning, you can roll it out a foot or so easily, then the strap should appear. I have had to do this several times and as long as you can reach the awning, works well.
Trying to pull the arms out causes me concern for pinched fingers. |

Location: Texas | Well, it took about an hour! Dang thing had jammed up top, the release latch was not releasing, and we had to un bolt a few different things to let it "give". But we got it done, and it is now functioning correct.
Now to get some awning tape to fix the chipping and peeling it is doing along the top edge.

Location: Mena, AR | I've attached an extra rope to the awning pull strap so it won't get lost. |
