Location: WI | Let's face it, pulling mats and power washing after each haul may not be practical... what things to you do to help keep pee off aluminum floor? I was thinking about putting down large plastic sheets or something under mats to catch what leaks through .. or maybe duct taping the seams to help keep out?? ideas? clean shavings under mats, then put mats down then more on top? Is acid washing a good thing, or hard on it? thought about bedliner on floor after a good acid wash.. good idea or bad?

Location: Topeka Ks | I pull my mats out a couple of times a season to wash out the build up under the mats. Once the floor is dry I sprinkle the floor down with baking soda to neutralize the alkaline in the urine and manure. Trisha Killion told me this info when I bought my trailer. Look at this thread. http://www.horsetrailerworld.com/forum/thread-view.asp?threadid=129... |

Location: Corpus Christi, Texas | GARD has very good instructions for a DIY WERM floor, using truck bed liner. He uses duplicolor, but I used herculiner the last time I did it, with good results.. Look up his instructions.. It is not hard, just takes a couple of days (including drying time). You will not regret it. I prepped my "new" trailer floor this afternoon, am letting it dry overnight, and will roll on the bedliner in the morning before it gets too hot. |

| Duct tape probably wouldn't even last until you arrived at your first destination after you spent the time and money putting it down. Do a search on here of "aluminum trailer floor wash/maintainence" and,as said, you'll find Gard's instructions which he usually keeps updated several times as there have been several topics about it.There is proper preparation that you cannot skip if you want good results, but,it's worth the time and effort when you're done. |
