Location: MS | Does anyone know of a timer that I could plug my trailer into that would make the AC run maybe an hour a day? I am trying to keep wasps and dirtdaubers from building in the rooftop AC. They have already done this once and cost me a repair to the fan. I have an AC cover on it now, but it is sort of inconvenient to have to climb onto the trailer and take it off every time I want to use it. |

It is similar to a glue trap for mice, but the sticky stuff insecticide. Since there is a barrier between the house and outside there shouldn't any smell inside the house.Just a thought. |

Location: North Carolina | If you set the a/c to run fan only, you could use a 24 lamp timer. install it between the trailer and the house outlet... AGAIN ... run the a/c fan only. turn off anything else in the trailer... lights, converter, etc. You could overload the timer otherwise. |

Location: MS | Thanks! I wondered if you could use a lamp timer, but thought it may be too much overload. |

Location: western PA | You didn't say if this would be plugged into the same source all the time. If it is, this timer works very well, and can be set for multiple times per day and the timing of the events are completely variable. Our house and my daughter's have these installed on our electric hot water heaters, and they've paid for themselves by the second month. http://www.amazon.com/Intermatic-WH40-Electric-Water-Heater/dp/B00004W4XI |

Location: MS | Yes, for this use, it will be plugged into the same source all the time. I only need to do this when I am not using it...mainly during the summer months when it is too hot to ride. I will be checking into this! |

Most of the newer units have two motors. In the fan on postion the evaporator fan only would run and it is the condenser fan you are trying to run. This fan only runs with the compressor. It would take a timer like Gard spoke of that would have to be wired to make the camper plud "hot" for some fixed times per day. I just leave mine set on 80 degrees and it takes care of itself, I do live way down south where it says hot most of the year so it gets plenty of run time. This also helps to keep the humidity a little lower in the trailer. |

Location: MS | Thanks, Cajun. I just had to have a new AC put in and went from a Carrier V to a Coleman Mach. It doesn't have a thermostat, per say, just knobs to turn the temp or fan speed up or down. So running it on the fan only won't keep the wasps out, huh? Dang. I am also in the deep south...Gulf coast of MS...and running the AC raises the bill. Back to the drawing board. There may be another AC cover in my future. |

If it is then your unit has the single motor driving two fans.... (Very common to save costs.)
