| I am looking at purchasing a trailer with 8000 pound torsion axles and electric brakes. The brand of the Axles under the trailer is AL-KO. I have talked to two trailer repair shops and they can not say enough bad things about AL-KO axles and AL-KO Brakes. Both shops tell me to go buy a trailer with DEXTER Axles. They say that the AL-KO is a cheap imitation and I am only going to have problems. This trailer costs plenty and I sure don't want to have to change axles down the road. Please help. Thanks. |

Location: Rocky Mount N.C. | I HAD a trailer with AL-KO axles. Never had any problems with the brakes or the axles, had plenty of structural problems with the rest of the trailer.... Maybe I didn't keep it long enough to have axle/brake problems. If I had to choose, it would be DEXTER. |

| Thanks. They tell me I could kind of get along with the AL-KO 7000 pound and below axles but that AL-KO 8000 pound axle with the self adjusting brakes is a really bad deal. Maybe somebody else out there has had experience one way or another. Thank you.

Location: Zionsville, Indiana | Some Alko and Dexter parts are interchangable, such as brake assemblies, hubs, etc. Alko replacement parts are more expensive than Dexter parts. |

Location: Elkhart , Indiana | We have used AL-KO axles for years and have not had any problems , any time you have a question or a problem they are always there to help . never got the same response from Dexter . Your choice |

Location: Ottawa, Illinois 61350 | My vote would be DEXTER !!!! We have dealt with different manufactures with different brands of axles, and Dexter has always given us good service. Usually, if a mfr. is using something other than Dexters, it is all about cheaper priced. |
