well I scrubbed it with soap and water and now I am going to scotch pad it with some acetone to prep the floor before I apply the bed liner coating, should I zinc chromate the aluminum before the coating Thanks

I was hoping Gard would answer you. He did a GREAT set of posts on how to do what you are talking about. Sometimes you have to Google the question because if it's older than a year the forum search won't find it but google will and lead you to his posts.<\p>

We actually did this in our past trailer following Gard's instructions. Seems like we used Muratic Acid to clean and etch out any corrosion. BE CAREFUL and use a mask!! Once this was done, any pits showed that indicated a problem. We were lucky and didn't have any. We used the brand bedliner that Autozone carries. laid down two coats. AWESOME! Hope this helps...at least some. <\p>

thanks, I did do a search on here before I posted and it did not come up, so I googled it like you said and found it, it is very helpful, I was a fraid to use muratic acid because of the fumes being in a some what close area, the fumes will harm other medals, but if you all are doing it must not be bad, Gard know his stuff when it come to this, in the marine trade we used a acid wash that was a milder acid to clean the alum. but it is pretty costly to do a floor like in a trailer

Thanks again

there is very little corrosion on the floor and that is not bad, they did or the factory put drain holes in the floor and for fourteen years old I think that it is not that bad, I said it was thirteen years old but meet fourteen

Plus I was afraid of taking all the anodizing off the good areas and most of it still has the anodizing on it which the acid will, but you all are getting good life out of your floors thats good enough for me
