Location: Ontario | Hooked my trailer up on Saturday to haul to a friends place. Checking my lights before I left, I notice I have no left turn signal/left 4 way on the trailer (left truck signal is fine with or without trailer hooked up) but I do have left brake/running light (so not the LED tail light itself). I stayed home BTW...Husband is pretty handy (an electrician by trade) but doesn't have any idea on this - any suggestions? |

Location: North Salem, IN | Pull the light out and check for corrosion on the connector terminals. this is fairly common and can lead to the terminal being eaten away so no cantact is made. If this is the case, you will have to replace the light and the terminal end. If it is not corroded, check for power to the wire at the light. If no power to the light end of the wire, check at the plug to make sure you are getting power from the truck. Could be a wire pulled out of the plug in on the cord. It could be any number of things, so check the light first, then eleminate things as you go. |

Location: Ontario | Update... My husband checked the wiring and tail light on the weekend. He was able to get pulsing current to the tail light with his tester (when the turn signal was on) so he replaced the tail light tonight. Now we have a tail light that has both turn and brake signals when the running lights are off, but only functions as a tail light when the running lights are on. He has also replaced one of the load lights, both toggle switches for the interior lights on the horse compartment and the load lights, and the switch on the outside "porch light" and has also replaced the fuse for the 12V aux lights (he is assuming it was blown because both rear toggle switches were corroded and shorting). Everything except the tail light now works perfectly. He is stumped. Any ideas??

Location: Williamsburg VA | Usually when you have that type of a problem, it is related to the grounding of the fixture. The signal and brake will ground through the tail light until power is applied to the tail light. Check the grounding of the fixture. Rust can cause the ground not to be connected. |
