Hi, Experts. I'm selling a horse and have informed the new owner I'll deliver her.  What is a fair price for transport these days?  $?/loaded mile.  Any help I get would be much appreciated.

typically per horse rates range between .90 and 1.25 per loaded mile when there are at least two horses on the trailer. If you would like to ship one horse direct from barn to barn without picking up additional horses, the charge is $2.00 per loaded mile and $75.00 an hour for empty miles. With the price of diesel past $4.00/gallon, rates may rise in the coming months.

I know the guys driving semi trucks would love to get $2 per mile.

When I looked into hauling new trailers to deliver them,  They were paying around $1.35 per mile.

I've never looked into hauling horses.  So I really have no comparison.
