Location: SC | After I had bought my horse trailer, the next time I got an oil change, the GMC dealer gifted me a half used tub of grease that they said was suitable for high friction uses like greasing towing hitches.Well it worked great (I guess, who knows), but when my trailer burned, the little tub went with it.I am having to replace everything and start from scratch, while filing insurance claims, etc.Any idea what this product would have been called, or anyone have a link to something similar?Thanks in advance! |

Location: western PA | Any name brand of synthetic chassis grease in the 10 oz tubes will suffice. The synthetic lubricants offer more shear strength, and are more resistant to being washed of with rain water than the petroleum lubricants. |

Location: Lincoln, NE | I bought Extreme Pressure Grease or High Pressure Grease at a local O'Reilly's Auto Parts store. I can't remember the exact name. The salespeople are very knowledgeable and could help you, too. |

Location: Northern Utah | I second Gards comments. The grease on your ball can easily be replaced, It does not need a long life. You are putting a a fresh daub on each time before hooking up. Hitch balls are exposed to dust and other grit and the old grease should be removed and fresh grease applied. More damage will be done from grit becoming stuck to grease than grease breaking down. |

This is the type of grease I would (and do) use. The EP additives plate the metal preventing wear under extreme pressure (like the ball and coupler) |
