Did a search and drew a blank and I can't remember what has been said about it over the years. Can it be done, does it compromise strength, and is it cost prohibitive? Thanks.

My husband did ours himself with a sawzall. We bought a door with frame at a discount surplus RV supply place (I think it was $50-$75), then he cut the wall for the door size, and screwed the door frame into the wall. No problems, no loss of strength, still haul horses in the front stall with no problems.
Here's a pic. The bolts you see are to attach stall wall padding to the horse side.

Well if you do a shoddy job...you'll take a hit on the value of your trailer when you go to sell or trade it in the future.
