Location: Monroe, WA | Today I used the exhaust brake and when I turned it off, it did not turn off. Took a couple minutes to do that and there was a noticeable increase in speed at that time. Is this a serious problem that needs to be looked at now and not use it in the time being or?? |

Location: Monroe, WA | oops sorry! 02 Dodge Cummins manual 6 speed. Brake was added in 05 or 06. Manual brake - pull button for on, push button for off on stick. Sound is the easist way to know it is on/off but feel also. My trainer was driving it with the trailer and told me it happened to him so I tried it yesterday with no trailer and got same result, goes on but doesn't go off when you push it back in. Turns off a couple minutes later. Not sure if it is bad for the truck if I use it and it continues to stick, if I shouldn't use it until fixed or?? Thanks! |

Location: Penrose, Colorado | do not know about and add on brake but we have a Dodge that has over 200,000 miles on it and it has been on all the time, I leave them on to save the brakes etc. |

Location: Sumas Washington | Do you know the manufacturer name of the exhaust brake.... PacBrake Jacobs BD maybe a Banks. All of them work on the same principle. On your truck it is possible that the vacuum pump is not functioning properly. It is also possible that the solenoid valve is malfunctioning. I would use some silicone lube on the linkage of the brake, sometimes with the use they just get dry.. |

Location: Northern Utah | Chances are it's just soot buildup and the butterfly valve. Crawl under the truck and put a wrench on the bolt coming out of the center of the exhaust brake and cycle the butterfly valve several times. |

Location: Monroe, WA | Thanks for the replies. I will take it in and have it looked at. This weekend sometimes it wouldn't come on and if it did, took it time going off. Hope for simple! |
