After many years of using public shower facilites I have installed a shower in the midtack. I got the idea when i saw a friends trailer which is the same as mine a Exiss with midtack. The midtack is not finished so we choose to install a tankless LP heater in the corner on the passenger side of the midtack. Its wasted space anyway given its on a angle. The problem was the LP tank-where to put it. I don't have a bracket under the gooseneck so we put in the horse compartment ( I don't use the first stall) drilled a hole in the wall and ran the gas line through it and into the unit. Then we secured the tank with bungees and hooks. The divider has a stud wall which will keep the tank away from the horse. We had to add a water inlet so there was another hole to drill but we installed a water inlet thingy so it looks nice. Ran it today and it produced flowing hot water. Then I put up a curtain rod and shower curtain. The drain? A small hole in the floor with a rubber stopper. No need for a gray tank its just shower water. We added a treated piece of 1x1 wood for a splash guard on the floor. I think it will work very well. It does eat up some space in the midtack so when we are done I will have to rearrange some stuff as well as contrive a new place for my show clothes rack.Might get a tension rod and place it in front of the midtack exterior door and simply not use that door to enter/exit. Anyway- that has been our project.

The pics aren't working. Maybe it is Juno. I sooooo hate Juno! It doesn't let me access anything. Or maybe it is Internet Explorer that sucks so bad?

ok - I figured it out. That is awesome. I am planning on purchasing that same Ecco-temp tank-less water heater. Now... it looks like the vents are on the side and not the back correct?I will be installing the same but in the back corner of the last stall. (where the rear tack would normally go.)I was wondering about what I was going to do about "venting". Much better that the vents are on the sides than the back of the unit. Where did you purchase your Ecco-temp? Camping World has them but for like $60- more that some on-line stores I have seen.

Your water heater needs to be in a ventilated area. I have the same water heater and I hung mine from the window bars in the stud stall. I turned the top heat deflector around backwards so fumes would be directed outside the opened window. If you insist on using where it's located, be sure to install a carbon monoxide detector!!!

I really would rethink the LP tank inside the trailer. Gas explosions can be nasty when there is LP leaking in an enclosed space. I hope you at least have an LP gas detector installed. We tend to get complacent sometimes when safety is involved, and I have had the broken bones to prove it.  Be safe....Bill

I did almost the same thing with mine, however, I used a shower pan designed for that corner and installed the tankless H2O heater in the first stall. It is high enough up on the wall that I can still put a horse in that stall with no worries of him/her touching it with their rump. I ran the gas line down under the frame and mounted the tanks up under the gooseneck. Had the gas line come up through the wall between the LQ and the first stall. All the pipes are interior so I don't have to worry about them getting bent. Mounted them with clamps and rubber gaskets to allow for any wiggle as it is being towed. I tapped into the line for the heater/refer as wellr. I will try and post pictures when the whole project is done.

Yes we are leaving the tank in the first stall of the horse compartment. I am not concerned about LP tank explosion. The midtack does have venting. I was considering putting the shower in the first stall but there is only one way to access and that would be through the rear doors of the horse compartment.

I bought it on Amazon( 100 bucks free shipping) and it was a reconditioned with full warranty. The vents are on the side plus the top is open. The midtack has some venting but we are going to add another next to to the unit on the wall near the ceiling. The LP tank is in the first stall horse area. The trailer has 8 windows ( three drop down) and three pop up vents. The tank is next to the wall plus there is a stud wall on the divider. The horse would not be anywhere near it at least not close enough to come into contact. The tank and all fittings are new, checked for leaks. Its set to go.Today we are going to finish the drain and then clean up. leaving it drained and water hose unattached since where we live we know its going to get cold before spring really sets in.

I finished caulking the shower floor and set up the curtain. That was the part I was looking forward to..its a girl thing I guess. With the stud wall complete and the tank secured we started everything up- no leaks and hot water. So far thats good. I did lose some space in the midtack so I spent some time rearranging the stuff. Turns out I have ALOT of stuff. One person showing one horse and looks like I house a army....

Whenever a propane tank is installed in a confined area, it should have two vents. One, the air inlet, will be at the top of the tank compartment. The outlet, because propane is heavier than air, will be at the floor level. Any leakage from a regulator, valve or plumbing can then be vented and allowed to dissipate. The tank should not be in a shared compartment, with an open flamed or electrical appliance. Also, near the floor level is where the gas detector should be installed.

A propane gas that can build up in a confined area, is a dangerous situation. It doesn't take much time or expense to protect yourself from the dangers. Double check the fittings after the installation, whilst pressurising with a soap solution. Make sure the lines are properly affixed and supported with Adel clamps, and any bulkhead protrusions are protected with grommets. Rigid copper lines that are subject to vibration, can cause difficulties.

Be very careful with gas installations.

Yep- we checked everything with soapy water. The tank, lines and fittings are all new. The tank is not in a place with open flames or appliances. Plus I can open the rear doors of the trailer for more venting that and the 8 windows and three pop up vents. We use the set up when deer hunting- propane tanks attached to the heaters. This ain't our first rodeo but thanks for the tips!
