I did not pimp out the inside but I did manage to put some camo "film" on the LQ door and a larger piece on the other side of trailer and on both manger doors. Yes...you might be a redneck if you have camo on your horse trailer. BAHAHAHAHAHA

Well, now, you should share pictures and tell us your ideas about decorating and what you're thinking of doing.  It's exciting to get a new trailer.

With the economy in dire straits, there have been several stolen trailers in our area. Many trailers look the same and often times trailers of the same manufacturer will have identical graphics. This makes the searching and identification of finding a pinched trailer difficult. One owner passed his own trailer on his way home, and didn't recognise that it was being stolen. Many trailers have no graphics, and if of similar size, are initially difficult to distinguish from one another.

Adding or changing some of the exterior graphics is not difficult and is farily easy to effect. You can buy many variations on line, most being quite reasonable in pricing.

You can enhance the looks of your trailer and make identification much easier to spot, if necessary. Once they are installed, photos of your trailer will make future identification much easier. True they can be removed over time, but until they are, you may have a better initial chance of recovery. Once they have been installed for a time, they will leave indelible marks on the aluminum or painted skin. Only by repainting or installing newer, larger graphics, can these marks be covered.

Gard makes a very good point about special and different graphics to make your trailer more identifiable by law enforcement in case of theft.  Speaking of theft; it is surprising the number of trailers that sit at boarding barns, alongside a remote barn or shed, etc. WITHOUT ANY KIND OF HITCH LOCKS.  We actually place hitchlocks on our trailers at our dealerships that are behind a cyclene fence.

These aren't that expensive and go on the coupler, and there are locks that go on the set screws for the neck also, so that the locked coupler cannot be removed and the thiefs coupler put in place of the one removed.  We have even had the locks smashed with a sledgehammer, and fortunately the thief still couldn't get them off.  So when your thinking of things to buy and put on your trailer(s), make HITCH LOCKS one of the items to purchase.

I have a hitchlock for my trailer.  It is parked right next to the house under the carport.  I always put it on when we are leaving.  Pretty cheap insurance.  I know if they really want it they could probably find a way, but at least it slows them down.  It just amazes me how many people at horse shows, etc., unhook in parking lots and leave without anything on the trailers to keep them from being stolen.

I have added several pix inside mine..personal touches...framed a beautiful card a friend gave me, framed a few pix that are very special and have special meaning...color coordinated the towels, bedding etc.  there are a few other things I would like to do but that will come in time and with finances are 'fuller"

As far as identifying a stolen trailer I have a suggestion that was passed down to me by a friend...they painted the top of the trailer with  their ranch name, brand..etc.  big bold letters...who  looks at the top of a trailer ??..unless there is a hay rack on top...but it is easily identified by air ( helocopters, planes, overpasses

Just a thought....HAPPY TRAILS!

When we bought our new trailer I couldn't wait to go shopping for stuff.  I bought new dishes, new towels, new sheets and comforter.  We had our brand made into vinyl stickers and put them on the outside of the trailer as well as a few places inside.  I had an absolute blast, I hope you do too.

When we unhook at a horse show I always make sure I put my trailer next to a trailer that is much nicer than mine that way if they decide to steal one it will be the one next to me and not mine ;)

Actually, your question was "Am I nuts or wha(t)?"  Perhaps stepping back and being a little more polite to people who are very helpful would get a better answer to that question.

When we had our trailer built we had them just put cheap knobs on all of the cabinetry. Then we ordered really cute knobs in all different styles. We have horses, moose, a cabin, pinecone, hoof prints of all sorts, bear, deer, ducks, etc. It really makes the interior unique. My hubby purchased a bedding set from Sportsman's Guide for a really good price with Elk on it (even got our friends a cover/pillow shams for their trailer for Christmas). He is also a hunter and said not everything should be a horse (I disagree but I like to keep peace :). I got some cute rugs called Jellybean Rugs. They have lots of cute designs, can be used indoors or outdoors and wash up brilliantly. One has horses and the other has some cute bears and says welcome. I added a coat hook that has about 5 hooks and some running horses. Rather than making holes in the wall I bought the 3M Velcro strips.. These come off of the wall just like the hooks and hold very well. I hang jackets, hats, etc to get them off of the floor. We have a slide and it gives a good open wall for it. I plan to hang pictures in a similar manner. I found that cute towels don't work so well as they get used and then trown in the dirty clothes but a cute hand towel is functional and doesn't need to be tossed in the laundry as fast. I have a few so a dirty one can be replaced with something else that is cute. I have some cute signs that I can hang on the side of the trailer when camping. I use suction cups on the flat part of the aluminum and it holds the signs just fine and is easy and fast to remove and doesn't take up much space.

I used a microfiber(faux suade looking) in tan for the bedding. I custom made throw pillows in a paslie print w/ faux leather trim and conchos to accent. I used a western shirt back for a patern for one of the fronts of my pillows it turned out very nice. I have tiled the back splash in the kitchen & under the gooseneck & bathroom around the sink with 4x4 natural tones slate that turned out very nice. I also have the metal running horses from Home Interiors it is hanging over the door. I have 2 stone hollowed out candle holders on my table(they are very heavy and dont slide around.I put a brass horse shoe style hanger beside the door for cap and coats.I put a native american potery in the entertainment center. I tried not to make it too girly and mostly western style so my hubby won't complain.

Ya I would like to see the "tiles" in the trailer also..sounds great!

One thing I plan to do before we hit the trails this season is put a memory foam topper on the bed..the mattress is NOT a regular bed mattress.. it is the kind they put in the trails..about 4 inches think..I have heard/read the memory foam toppers help ALOT in the comfort dept. ( hoping so anyway)  not really wanting to spend 4-500 on a new mattress for the horse trailer at this point.  Anyone else done this ? comments Welcome   :)

Yes, I also put a memory foam topper on my mattress. I actually have a reagular mattress in the trailer, although not a great one. I bought a memory foam mattress topper at Walmart for it, and now it sleeps sooo much better. All the difference in the world for about a $40 investment.

It was not too hard. I did it by myself in the dead of winter using a wet saw was the worst part. It probably added 25 lbs or so.it took 2 boxes I was not to worried about that. If you do it get the grout additive to help with the flex. Mine has been in a year with no cracking.

I just bought a Serta 4" memory foam topper that came with two memory foam pillows for around $129. at Overstock.com & shipping was only $1.  We were debating about buying a new mattress & I have a friend who had one so I sat on her bed & liked it so I thought it was worth a shot vs the price of a new mattress & box spring.  I love it!  Now I am thing of getting one for the LQ as well.  (this was a really good buy considering the pillows usually run about $40 each in the department stores).  They go on sale about every month or so - regular price I think was about $169.  Also my friend does a lot of research & she said not to go less than 3" for a topper.

We've been debating on the memory foam topper as well, mostly we would like to have more clearance for our heads. Do you use other foam under the memory foam topper or would a 4" topper been enough support by itself? Any  suggestions?

illini, are you talking a memory foam topper alone or on top of a mattress?  I really dont know enough about

them to say..but I would think a topper alone wouldnt be all that comfy...but what do I know  ;)   I will surely check out Overstock.com..that sounds like a good deal on topper w/ pillows  THANKS

I also have a memory foam topper for our bed. I got mine for around $65 at Belk's. We got them on sale and used some extra discounts. Another way to customize your rig is to have photo 'gifts' made. I have a pillow cover that I got done at Walgreens of the hubby and me on one of our riding adventures. I had a clock made with a picture of one of our horses.

I keep a lot of stuff from sliding around by cutting some of that shelf liner in the shape of the item I don't wish to move when traveling. It's amazing what will stay put even on bad forest roads.

Love the tile in the previous posts!

I dont want to put anyholes in the walls so ive been using the 3M command hanging tabs, they come off and wont hurt the walls at all. Does any one know where I can get a 6 X 16 or so non breakable mirror? I want to put it on my bathroom door.

At our house it's hard to open the mailbox without finding a 20% off coupon to BBB so that would make it even cheaper.

Illini, you might be able to get away with just the 4" topper.  Our trailer only has a 4" foam mattress which sleeps very comfortably.  We put the 4" topper on top of the regular mattress on our bed & comparing it with the foam mattress in our camper, it seems firmer so I'm thinking it might work alone?  I can't believe what a difference it made & sure beat the cost of having to buy a new mattress & box spring. The memory foam just conforms to your body and both my husband & I find we don't toss & turn like we use to.   Eventually, I would like to get one for the LQ and thought about using it to replace the existing foam mattress.

I added  fuzzy body pillows( feels like a teddy bear) on each side of the bed they help stop the drafts on chilly nights at the windows and stops you drop rolling off the bed. lol.

I just got a 22" x 36" non-breakable mirror for $5 at Sears going out of business sale. The store had had one that was much larger but I couldn't get the price and when I went back it was already sold. Then, much later this one showed up and I bought it. Anyone looking for one may check with Sears. This was a "fixture" not merchandise.
