I have an 08 f-450.Pull a 4-horse 18' sw w/slide. How much better fuel milage could I expect ,if any, with a 2012 f-450? I currently get 6 to 9 mpg when pulling with my 08.

The 2012 F-450 pickup is no more than a F-350 pickup with the old "tow boss" package.... Wide front axle and 4.30 gears.... It has a little less payload capacity than the F-350 pickup. F-450 cab and chassis trucks still have the big frame, springs and 19.5 wheels, it's a true F-450. I don't think the new F-450 pickup will handle the pin weight of that 18' shortwall, nor will it get better enough mileage to bother to trade unless you're going to drive it 100K miles a year.... 2011 and 2012 F-450 pickup to me is a step backwards from the 2008 F-450 pickup. Just a glorified F-350. JMHO...

Check your pin weight before you buy....

I have a 2008 F450 with 6.4L engine, 4.88 limited slip axel ratio and 14500 GVWR. I get between 9 & 10 mi per gallon. Also have an additonal 36 gallon fuel tank in the bed. I am towing a Bloomer 4H 15'SW with two horses. Truck pulls great but an I undersized? Trying to get the weight of the trailer with no luck as yet.
