Hi All - I am considering a used stock trailer to haul 2 quarter horses for weekend rides around Minnesota. It is a 1999 model that has just had a new pine floor installed but needs new tires. Dealer has also gone through the wiring and installed a new plug. I am in MN so there is some rust but it does not look too bad.
Dealer is asking $3500 I was wondering whether other members thought this is a fair price?
I am also tossing up whether to get this used or a new Delta 3 horse bumper pull (steel) for about 6k. I have a F350 diesel so I could tow either easily.

That should be a $2500.00 trailer with new tires. The trailer is rusted and 13 years old, how bad are the brakes and bearings? You can get a 2012 16' Calico stock trailer in Minnesota for $4,450.00 asking price. http://www.horsetrailerworld.com/home/trailerdetail.asp?ID=356406

1999 was also a time period when Calico had paint problems. That has been resolved now. Calico makes a good economy trailer. The guys @ Denny's will treat you well.

Another brand to consider in steel stock trailers is Corn Pro. THey are moderately priced and well built. The slant horse/stock trailers are very versatile.

Both of these trailers are made in my home state along with Ponderosa. They are good economy well built steel trailers for runabout purposes.I have not owned a Calico, but have had the other two which are all comparable trailers.
