Im looking for a nice 3 or 4 horse GN trailer with L/Q. I dont have a large budget for one could be used or new. Whats a good make trailer that full aluminum with shower and seperate toilet A/C heat Fernace. I know there alot of trailer brands to look at just want to narrow it down to a few trailer that heavey duty and brands that have not had alot issues with that will hold its resale value. What are brand trailer to stay away from?

Duke, I would say you need to decide the max. you can or are willing to spend, that is going to decide a lot for you.

I just bought a 2001 sundowner sierra 3h 12' short wall for $20,000. It is in excellent shape.  I have been looking for 4 months most of these have been listed for $26,000 to $29,000.

I was looking at Sundowner or Silverlite as my main choices for my price range. I wanted extruded aluminum on the lower half of the trailer. You can add it later but, it is a little pricey.

4star, classic, featherlite (also looked at these brands)

Elite, platinum, bloomer (I would put these at the higher end on cost)

Sounds exactly like my requirements. Looking for a good 3 horse with a 8 to 10 short wall. Live in Alberta , but plan to travel into the Texas and Arizona areas this winter to search further. Any suggestions as to what you found out on your inquiry that was of use?

BLT,

For craigslist search I used http://www.searchtempest.com/ (this was where I found mine)

I also used this site for searching.

Make sure if a listing is a dealer see if they have a link to there website and check there inventory.

What's your budget? Try to get that firmed up. I started out wanting less trailer and wanting to spend less. I was looking for 4' shortwall and ended up with 12' short wall quite a difference in what you get and what you pay.

My sundowner is 27' of deck, I pull it with a 2008 dodge 3500, I have it chipped to 400 HP, auto and I had air bags put on it. I pulls great down the road (it was 700 miles home from buying it) The big drawback is in town you really have to pay attention to turns (those darn roundy rounds are alot of fun). I have a set of doubles that are 68' so I get alot of practice.

Pictures are the most important thing unless the trailer is close by. If they won't send you enough pictures for you to get a good idea of the trailer condition I wouldn't waste the fuel. I drove 3 hours each way to look at the "it's in great shape trailer", that was a P.O.S.

Once you get an idea of what you want, figure out the average prices of them (craigslist, HTW, horseclicks, dealer listings). I was patient until I found my trailer which was priced $5,000 to $7,000 below almost everything similar. Most of these trailers have been listed for many months. I bought mine on day 2 of the listing.

I hope this helps. My search was at times frustrating but in the end I got a great trailer for a fair price. (It is a buyers market)

What is the general consensus about Exiss trailers? Have found an Exiss Sport that is reasonably priced and equipped about how I like. I realize Sport is the low end of the models, but would like to know if there is much structural difference in building strength between the different models of Exiss. This is a 8ft sh.wall-3 horse. (asking 19)

Paints, What problems have you seen with the Exiss or Bison trailers? Why do you dislike them?

Think I got all my questions answered on an earlier thread from this forum entitled 2007 Exiss Sport. Some great info there, appears to be a big difference in quality between the Sport and higher up models.

Wondered when the flaming would start. Fortunately we have been blessed with its absence for some time now.

I just went through buying a trailer with LQ. The old saying still holds true."you get what you payfor" I ended up with a new Old stock model. An '08 featherlite 9' LQ by sierra 3horse. 7'6'' wide and tall. Love it wider than our old trailer with finshed LQ.

Yes, been following the Vantage ads on the N.H. site. probably as good a deal as is up here, unless you choose to do your own searching and importing. How do you like the Featherlite, strong enough for Alberta gravel roads, etc??

Bit...so far so good..... that said have just had this trailer for just under a year. Went into the ya ha tinda twice with it.Its high enough to get in there.  And go up to blackfoot/cooking lake to ride. Plus all the gravel roads around home. Going to check pasture's and cows etc, so its not being babied, But i do try to treat it well (it is going to have to last me for a long time!..ha,ha
