When I try to level the sensor on my brake controller I can't get the light to go from green to red. (when connected to my trailer)
When I take the same truck and connect to a friends trailer and level the sensor the light goes green to red as described in the directions.
Any clues? I took a drive around the property and experienced sporatic braking coming from the trailer and so hard at times to disconnect my ebrake line. Through accelration from a dead stop I experienced a stuttering of sorts as if the trailer brakes are grabbing and letting go real quick. Once I get going it's fine. Also, when my running lights are activated on the trailer during night time, all the lights dim and go bright again when I use either turn signal. The second the running lights shut off, my turn signals and brakes work fine again.

It sounds like you have crossed wires in your trailer...have your friend hook up their truck to your trailer...they should have the same symptoms as your truck expertienced

Here's the other thing though.... the trailer had a 4 way connector and so we were having to use an adapter. We finally just hard wired an RV connector to the trailer and I hauled out twice and had NO issues. I am confused why everything has since gone haywire?

Go back and check your work... A wire is probably shorting across in that new RV plug you installed.... Some Scotch 33 electrical tape may be in order...

It sounds like a ground issue to me. A 4 wire system with brakes will ground through the hitch. With the turnover balls and reese hitches, trailers tend to not ground well through the hitch. Add a 5th wire on the trailer side from the plug and ground it to the trailer chassis and your issue should be fixed. Easy way to check it is with jumper cables and just go from the truck chassis to the trailer chassis and see if the problem corrects itself.
