Was told today at Camping World that the 2-step manual awning from Dometic was no longer available...don't know if that is true but I did look at the 9100 Power Awning. Would like to hear from those that have a power awning. The idea of pushing a button or having a wind sensor retract the awning sounds enticing but......as with many subjects, there doesn't seem to be much middle ground, those that love them and those that hate them. A few searches find complaints related to the motors being unreliable. I would like some shade but don't want to bolt a $1000 boat anchor to the side of the trailer. Thanks for any and all feedback.

We are a dealer that sells quite a few living quarters, and have sold a good number with power awnings.  I don't remember our service dept. as having had to work on many (if any) of the power ones.  We do however work on a bunch of the manuals.  Power is the way to go if you like a) convenience b)not having to worry about setting up and taking down  c)not getting wet trying to get your awning rolled up when it's pouring rain  d) if you have the type with the wind sensor; not having to worry about the wind coming up when your out riding or showing.  If price isn't a factor; go with the power awning.

Maybe its possible, but it's one of those things, that your better off changing out the awning; as the cost of labor to convert would eat up any saving you might have.

I'm sure you could find the parts on Ebay, wind/unwind torsion and related wiring, but previous poster is probably correct.

I have power awnings on both sides of the Bloomer LQ and had one put on our 4 Star weekender! Love them!

2 people that I know who have power awnings say that their only complaint is that the awnings don't extend out as far as their manual awnings did. I don't know if that is true, or whether there are different widths available in power awnings.

What you loose with a Two Step awning or the power version is the ability to lower the roller tube closer to the ground, which can provide more shade when the sun is at a low angle.
