When I was at the state fair I noticed how all of the new trucks are much higher than the old ones and got to thinking that I couldn't get a new truck and have it work with my 2002 gooseneck. So I went and looked at the new trailers and asked about the clearance issue. They are now making trailers with more clearance to accomodate the new trucks which also shortens your headroom in the neck unless you get a taller trailer.
It got me thinking that the old style gooseneck may drop in value quickly if you can't use them with a newer truck. I am not sure what year the trucks changed but it has me concerned that my LQ may loose value quickly if you can only pull it with an older truck. I am just wondering what others think about this. The only way I see around this would be to block the trailer up.

I will give my .02 cents here since I just went through this. We purchased a 2011 Ram Longhorn and ended up having to block our axles 2" due to the new truck. I lowered the goosenenck coupler also 1" and this leveled out the trailer. Truck and trailer are perfect. Our trailer has the dropped nose and I would not have it any other way now. In the past you always had to watch your head. Most new trailers today come with blocked axles. We have been wanting to do this so the new truck gave us the excuse. If you find a trailer and like it most trailers dealers are equipped or have someone contracted to block axles.

We have a 2002 4 star and a 2007 elite both goosenecks and they both work great with our 2010 ford.Mira
So I just searched LQ Goosenecks on this site and year doesn't have anything to do with it as some 88 models had a really high gooseneck and not much headroom inside. So I saw many older and newer models with varying heights of the goose which is the issue and not year. So those with less headroom have more clearance for the truck
