Ok, we just purchased this trailer (used) http://goretrailers.com/trailer3a.htm and are trying to decide what to tow it with.

We can use a 1983 Suburban 3/4 ton which we already own, but it needs some work.

We have been looking at used Ford Expeditions, would that truck be suitable? If not, suggestions? IF we purchase a vehicle (instead of using the Suburban we already have) we'd like to stay under $12,000.

Do we need weight dist. bars on the tow vehicle?

Thank you in advance for your help!

A lot of it depends on how big your horses are. We have the Expedition with the bigger engine and tow package, and have pulled a similar two horse with bumper pull. I also have the Equalizer weight distribution system installed, and would not haul with an Expedition without it.

We towed a 3H BP trailer with an Expedition for a few years. It had the necessary power and we didn't need a weight dist sys. If I had a choice of the longer wheel base of the Suburban, I would choose it first.
