Location: Georgia | I have an '89 4-Star 24' Stock that I have tried to sell but could not get enough money for it to buy a newer/shorter trailer. Mechanically, there is nothing wrong with mine, I would rather have an 18-20'. Has anyone had any experience with cutting a section out of a trailer and re-welding it? |

Location: Rocky Mount N.C. | You chop the back off and you still got the same turning radius. Trailer axles are in the same place. What good is taking four feet off the rear?? I was thinking about taking 4' in front of the axles, two cuts and one weld. I did acid wash it and took pictures to put in HTW, but it looked so much better, I started thinking about keeping it.

Location: Missouri | I can't imagine that being cost effective. By the time you pay someone to weld it and if they do it right, it's going to need gusset material to span either side of the weld. Labor, material, devaluing the trailer, maybe I'm wrong but I would think selling the trailer at lower price would be less loss then modifying the trailer.

Location: Western Ar | I just had an Aluminium saddle rack re-welded approxx 10 inches in lenght. I liked to flipped when I got that bill. If thats any indicator you could make a major down payment even on a 4 star. |

Location: TN | Aluminum work ain't cheap! Had to replace the fender on our Hart last fall (it was the husband not me) and it cost $1000! I do think Paul is correct- once you cut it you own it forever! Used trailers seem to be dropping in price but that being said you can get a heck of a good deal on a new one! |
