What is your opinion on which side to put the ladder? I have ordered a alum. hayrack and ladder to put on my 2012 Exiss Stock Combo that I recently bought. It has the front dress on the driver side. Thanks...

Our Exiss has the LQ door on the driver's side and the hay rack ladder on the curb side. Since the ladder isn't used whilst travelling, I don't consider it as being a safety issue. We commonly tie the horses on the curb side away from the LQ, and the ladder doesn't interfere with this practise.

It depends  on how wide your trailer is. If it is 8' wide, then it shouldn't be on the side at all. It would need to go on the back door to prevent being over width.

Customarily, it is located on the side of the rear tack, as there are no windows to interfere. As to width, while not necessarily making sense, it has been explained to me that awnings & hayracks do not affect the rated width, because they are bolted on. Much like tie rings are not counted towards overall width.

It was explained the same way to me RT.  Having said that we still put most of the ladders on the 8' wides on the rear door unless they have a ramp.  I would put my ladder on the side you will most often not be tying your horse to.  One less thing for them to get hung up on.
