Location: Northern Utah | I have the F350 with the 6.7L diesel 4x4, crewcab, longbed. I'm getting 11.5-13.5 towing depending on what I tow and where I'm getting 14-15 mpg around town in my city driving I've gotten as high as 22 mpg empty on hiway trips. So it will really depend on how you drive and what you tow. As far as the truck, It is the most comfortable of any pickup I've ever owned. Location: Corpus Christi, Texas | I test drove 2 a couple of weeks ago.. One (brand-new) got 17.8 highway driving with some cutting through town, the second was used with @ 7000 miles on it and it got 12.1 driving the same route. |

| Hey Jon, How many miles have you got on it? Any issues? With all the problems the 6.0 & 6.4 had I am leary of letting my 97 F350 with a great 7.3L go, but I would like something that rides and handles better and has better turning radius. |

Location: Northern Utah | I''l be turning 20,000 miles next week. Only time it's seen the dealer is for oil changes. I walk over and talk with my service writer just so he remembers who I am. I take that back, I took it in last Sept for the 400 hp upgraded flash. I have not gotten the lastest flash (came out in April) which is supposed to smooth out the transmission. some folks have complained about rough transmission shifting. But I've not noticed it with mine. I have several good friends with new trucks they bought last summer. One sells baling twine and is hauling pallets of twine on a large gooseneck flatbed around the west and the other pulls a big triple axle ATV toy hauler. Both are having the same experience as me. Pleased with their trucks. Great fuel mileage is really dependant on keeping it in 6th gear and avoiding any starts. If I cruise along at 70 mph in 6th gear at 1500-1600 rpm. you will get 21-22 mpg. If you do a lot of starts where you have to accelerate and use the RPMS of the engine, Your fuel mileage will drop to 13-15. This is what I'm seeing tank after tank and not just the lie-o-meter on the dash. Most of mine is in the 12.-13 mpg because I have a trailer hooked up almost daily and most of my driving is in town. |

Location: Ottawa, Illinois 61350 | A little different subject, but the other day we had a driver deliver two new trailers to out dealership. He was driving a Ford SD 350 2 wheeler 7.3 PS automatic. I asked him how mayny miles he had on "the old girl". He said on the way to out store, that he had turned 894,000 miles!! I than asked him how many miles he got on the original engine; which he replied 849,000. He bent a pushrod, which put it out of commision. He also said he had gotten 451,000 out of the original tranny. He is now on a rebuilt 7.3 and his third rebuilt tranny. He said if he had it all to do over, he would have put a brand new Ford tranny in when the original went out, instead of a rebuild. What a testimonial for the 7.3 PS W/ automatic tranny !!! By the way, he purchased the truck new, has been the only owner/driver; and has used only Rotella 15/40 in it. |

Location: Northern Utah | When I bought my 2003 I sold my 2000 F350 with the 7.3L to a friend who runs an excavation company. His various employees have driven it over the years, usually towing a skid steer or miniexcavator. It's dented and beat up on the outside from careless employees bumping into things with it. The interior is flithy from excavation workers climbing in with mud on them. I had almost 100,000 miles when I sold it and it now has close to 400,000 with the original engine and tranny. His only real maintence has been brakes and front end work. It wouldn't surprise me at all to see a truck that is used for hiway travel to have a great life expectancy. |
