Location: Newcastle, California | I am looking at horse trailers 3 and 4 horse for my llamas (they spit)
thinking 2007 and newer. Looking at Platinum and Elite. Conversions for 12 ft LQ. are Cowboy and Outlaw.
Please any information, help, opinions, spending my retirement money since I plan on doing this for another 10 to 15 years, since I am 55 years old.
appreciate any help. Suggestions.

Location: Newcastle, California | llamas should only spit at each other if properly raised. not bottlefed.
Normally do not spit at people. No biting or kicking, just spitting when angry, or stick with needle or hand up rump or helping with birth.
only need 6 ft divider between male and female. (baby panel on horse divider presently) just wear halter when in trailer, not tied up. They cush down when traveling. only go to the bathroom in one spot.
weight approx 300 lbs.

I guess it has alot to do with what this all weighs.... That's seems like alot for a 1 ton, 11400# GVWR pickup. Your GCVWR is about 22000#. |

Location: Newcastle, California | Sorry, misunderstanding.I am replacing my camper and 3 horse w/tack room bumper pull for a Horse trailer with living quarters. Both are from 1996. A 30ft,, 3 horse and 12 ft living quarters, box looks so huge to me right now. Wondering if others thought that, but got used to it, and now no problem.Thought many have had different horsetrailer with LQ and know what ones to totally stay away from. |

Location: Tenn/Ala. | For what it is worth, a 3H with 12' LQ will typically be 26-27' on the floor, not 30'. |

Location: Virginia | I have a 3H 5'SW weekender that has a 24' box - adding another 7' (to make it a 12'SW) would make it 31'. Narrower trailers generally need more length for the slant stalls. |

Location: Virginia | Classicllamas - just curious - do llamas make good companion animals? For example, would they get along with a horse? When you say properly raised (not bottle fed) do you mean that a bottle fed llama won't spit? I was thinking about getting a companion llama for my horse (as he will be alone after this summer) and was thinking of getting a llama gelding. Or do llamas prefer other to be with other llamas? I have a hard time getting a straight answer from the person who is selling their llamas. I think they are adorable... |
