Location: Glen Mills, PA | I am looking at a 1993 4-Star trailer. I thought that they were all-aluminum trailers, but when I looked underneath it the main beams that travel from the front to the back of the trailer, one on each side, has rust. These are the beams that the aluminum I-beams which support the floor are attached to. This is NOT oxidized aluminum, but orange iron oxide. Is this normal for a '93 4-Star?

Also, should I jack up the trailer and take a wire wheel to these beams and the axles and then paint or undercoat them, or just leave it alone? It is mostly surface rust under paint.

Thanks for any input! |

Location: Water Vally, Alberta, Cdn |  I would suggest you could call 4Star Trailers @ (405) 324-7827 or (800) 848-3095. They are really good to talk to and would know the answer.

Location: Minneapolis, MN | My guess is that the beams you are seeing are for the axle sub-frame...which is then bolted to the aluminum structure. But without seeing it, I could be wrong. |

Location: Central Arkansas | All aluminum trailers will have some steel. It's on the hitch  and axles. |

Location: ohio | Funny you should mention this.  We have a 2002 4Star  2 horse slant with dressing room that is mustly smelling.  It has a small sliding window on the door but the floor seems to get damp somehow.  In a hard downpour I have looked around inside to see any rainwater.  Nothing leaking from the roof or sides that I can see.  Anyways I got down and looked underneath it and there was rust!  I was surprised because I thought they were all aluminum also.  The rust seems to be up under the dressing area by the door.   jkhorseman, I will be interested in what you find out.  I see you are from PA.  We traveled to Kittanning, PA to a 4-Star dealer to order our LQ trailer, they were very nice and helpful.   If you are close by them, I will pm you their name. |
